So I played Secret of Mana on the SNES in the past and liked it. Years later I found out it is not as detailed as planned, because of the conflict between Nintendo and Sony regarding the usage of CDs/cartridges for games.

As of today some members of the original team may be still alive and could help to develop and publish their original ideas. Unfortunately the remake is just what it is, even if todays memory and other resources set no serious limits.

I really would like to see a re-remake published sooner or later. If you agree, lets try to convince the right people to collect and/or write down everything related and license it. With some references mentioning the strength of the fan base added, we are probably convincing investors that a (re-)remake might be rewarding for them.

This sounds a lot like the dreams of Ura Zelda ever seeing the light of day, only for it to eventually just be Master Quest.

We know that Ocarina of Time left a lot of ideas on the cutting room floor, but many of those ideas never made it far before being cut, and couldn't ever all be reconciled with other ideas they were later replaced with. Ura Zelda never actually existed in a complete enough form to be remade. And the new remake is still gonna be original OoT with its original story and scope.

Likewise, any Secret of Mana re-remake will still be based on what made it into the final game. A game based on lost ideas may as well just be reworked into a new sequel.

I do know that there are some romhacks of SoM that try to expand the game based on imagined interpretations of what could've been. But that's the best you're going to get, I don't think Square Enix will never make the exact version you're imagining.
