One of my dogs, a little old Dachshund, had really bad kidney problems because her previous owners fed her all sorts of things; fries, chips, ice cream... she was a bit uncomfortable standing near the end, but also old Dachshund ankles I think... she LOVED being held up in a bath of warm water. She would like instantly fall asleep in our hands in the bath. It was adorable (but also sad because she was old and we knew).

One of my dogs hates baths but loves to play with hose water. Our compromise is what we call Super Soapy Fun Time. She runs around the yard while we spray her with the hose. Then call her in for soapy body rubs and scratches. Then she runs around the yard some more while we rinse her off. Finally she comes in for towel cuddles. She loves it. In winter, since it's too cold to do this, she just gets moist towel massages instead of her normally scheduled Super Soapy Fun Time. Not quite as good, but good enough for the cold months.

My guy hates water, but he gets copious amounts of chicken in the bath; so he tolerates them.

Kinda, I'd say he tolerates them.
