The Interstellar app for Piefed cannot be used to post, does anybody know why? (retrofed.com)

It looks like there are multiple post types on Piefed (link, image, poll, text, etc.), and the Interstellar client throws an error for me when I try to create a text post on it. It says that the link cannot be null, as well as the alt text (neither of which are relevant for a text post).

Has anybody experienced this issue and know how to resolve it? The app definitely supports Piefed from what I can tell, and I can do everything else (receive notifications, read posts, comment, updoot, join and leave communities, etc.)

If it helps, I'm running the Android client installed via F-Droid

I was able to replicate your problem. I was able to make a post with other apps successfully.

Based on the error message, either Interstellar is sending an incorrect post type, or piefed is doing some schema checking beyond the officially documented api. I won't be able to look at it until tomorrow probably, so perhaps @rimu@piefed.social or @jwr1@kbin.earth will be able to look into it sooner.

    edit: Have cross-posted to the interstellar community using the Summit app (does not work on Interstellar, and there seems to be no option in the web client?)

    Summit is definitely my favourite app, but I'd rather use Interstellar, since it can be installed via F-Droid (while Summit needs Obtainium), and it is cross-platform too (so I can use the same app on both Android and mobile Linux when I get around to getting a working supported device!)

    Hol'up, I thought F-Droid v Obtainium was merely preference. No? 😅

    They are preference, yes, but F-Droid (for me) usually auto-updates more reliably than Obtainium. I know a lot of people love Obtainium too, and both are awesome!
