    East / west divide of Europe is rather arbitrary so I wouldn’t dwell on this too much tbh. Article author might have been thinking that Baikonur is in Europe too.

    Western Europe is generally held to be Iberia, France, Germany, etc - UK as a border case as England was once aligned with the North until 1066. Northern Europe is its own thing.

    I live somewhat close to geographic center of Europe and have been watching claims of what’s east / west for so long I became desensitised to this, I think. Norway is closer to Urals than it is to Lisbon 🤷‍♂️
