Aren't macOS and OSX just different versions of the same thing? Why break them out when Windows is all in one? Never been a Mac user, someone help me out.

    At this rate, it will. Windows 11 is a turd, and i don’t expect it to get any better unless shareholders get rid of the current CEO.

    Foreign governments are trying to wean themselves from US tech. That’ll be a big chunk soon. I expect they will roll their own unix/linux distros.

    What's the anomaly around 2023/2024 where people seemed to switch to OS X and then back?

    That doesn't seem like a switch people would undertake lightly, considering they'd need new hardware.

    Since it's just a share of total usage, that doesn't necessarily mean that people switched.

    There were a lot of layoffs in 2023, and big companies tend to use Windows as their enterprise desktop. So a drop in Windows users at the enterprise level would necessitate that other OSs now have a larger share of the remaining pie.
