I opened the door to a shed and found this guy sitting in the middle of the floor. It's been a long time since I've seen one this big in the wild. My coworker said it was nice enough to be out in the open and not hiding somewhere I had to put my hands.

It's been my experience that where there's one scorpion, there's more

They glow under blacklight so it's easy to check.

A quick search says it's an almost universal trait among species.

Fun fact, scorpions are one of the earliest land creatures after animals moved from living in water.

And they could be 4ft long. Sea scorpions were much bigger. Sweet dreams!

I'm am a homebrew GM and worldbuilder so I will take all of the real world inspiration for deadly and dangerous fauna I can get :) My current favorite deadly fauna idea I've thought about recently is taking the utahraptor but as a huge modern avian raptor ie no longer a raptor dino but giant raptor bird. Basically a really scary chocobo at that point haha. But 4 feet scorpions are a fine addition to my collection >:)

What you're describing is the cassowary. It's a flightless bird that has a sword for a toe. And it instinctively knows where any animal's heart is, knowing precisely where to stab. And its head was clearly stolen from Jurassic Park.

Just look for images of cassowary feet and cassowary head.

Long before I was born, before my mom met my dad, when my mom was in college, she dropped out and fled the US. She ended up in Europe and met a man named Colin, whom she then married and with whom she got pregnant, then moved to Greece.

While in Greece and pregnant, she did not have access to indoor plumbing. Instead, she used an outhouse. According to her, she once got up in the middle of the night to make use of the facilities, started to head outside without a light, then thought better of it and grabbed a light. When she did, she was glad she did so, because there was apparently a large, terrifying scorpion on the doorknob she would have used to exit the residence.

She did not disclose to me how she handled the situation.

If it had been me I think the lack of plumbing would no longer be a barrier to shitting indoors

Presumably this is especially true while pregnant.

What a complete gentleman. Just chilling out in the open, no ulterior motives, sits still for his fitting appointment.

I choose to believe he donned a little top hat and walked out quietly

Dang. They show up in our houses here in (the US Southwest) but not usually that size. Unfortunately I have to kill them everytime I spot them cause of our dogs.

I found a 2 inch scorpion in my shorts last year. Glad he wasn't a whopper like that big boy

Critters in shops and warehouses are always fun. It never fails, some big snake/spider/scorpion/etc moseys in, and there's one guy hiding in the break room until its gone and another guy taking pictures of it because it's cute.
