I’m convinced the people who are downvoting this don’t know the OG shitposting that was nuclear bomb names assigned by American children with PhDs.

High, downvoter here. I just don't think trivializing mass scale murder is funny. Yes I know they're called Little Boy, Thin Man, and Fat Man.

I can't down vote on my instance, but it seems OPs humor is mostly "haha large people exist" which is deserving of down votes

I was so focused on the mass murder part of it I totally missed that layer. Good catch.

  • I'm doomscrolling today and managed to get down to super low vote stuff, and there were quite a few in a row from OP that were clearly just "haha look at this fat person isn't that funny also heres some barely related text to justify calling it a meme"

We're pulling a "too soon" on an event that predates the birth of 99.9% of people on this platform?

Explain to me why it being before their birth makes the leveling of entire cities and the death of hundreds of thousands of people okay to trivialize?

Can you explain to me who is harmed by laughing at this hilarious roast?

How small your problems must be to waste energy clutching these digital pearls.

There are entire books written on the ethics and impacts of jokes. Punching up vs punching down, the implications of the social power dynamics, context, and the like.

If you as a supposed adult can't look at the world around you where trivializing the Holocaust has been a tool used to fuel the rise of fascism and extrapolate out why empathy is good and trivializing mass scale deaths is bad under the guise of fat jokes then no, I can't explain to you who is harmed and why.
