Part of the reason I’m fearing Ride On from AC/DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap album is because it’s my favourite AC/DC song. The other reason is so I don’t have to repeat the tactic with Van Halen and Ice Cream Man. Van Halen have done better songs. AC/DC… it’s less sure. I used to be a big fan of theirs, but all the big hits tend to sound the same. They sound great! But there is absolutely an “AC/DC sound” and anyone who says otherwise is either fooling themselves… or maybe they’re a better fan than I am.

I certainly enjoy Back in Black, For Those About to Rock, Flick of the Switch, The Razor’s Edge, and Ballbreaker sometimes, as well as a few others, but nothing more recent. But, the hits do tend to have the same energy. AC/DC have more than one bluesy track like this one, but this one stands out to me. It’s also one of the few AC/DC songs I will never skip. Sometimes you gotta be in the mood for AC/DC’s schoolboy antics. But not Ride On. If you haven’t heard it, and think you’ve heard every AC/DC song because you heard Back in Black, Highway to Hell, or Thunderstruck, do yourself a favour and play this one.
