¿USS Enterprise counts as liminal space?

movie about sterile backrooms

I'm not a big Hollywood person, can someone illuminate me as to what this references? Thx.

(Unless I've just been whooshed) Ironically, "The Backrooms" is a movie by and for people who aren't "big Hollywood people"!

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt26657236/

It was made by a YouTuber based on a meme that originated on 4chan ages ago.

~~Dunno how that's a "whoosh,"~~ (EDIT: Now I see it: "backrooms," duh me!) but thanks for the reply. Being a Firefly fan, Chiwetel Ejiofor at least gives it some credibility even though the reviews don't seem to think much of it (and, honestly, neither did I from the ads when it came out). I'll have to put it on my randomized "can't decide what to watch" list.

I saw it. It was enjoyable!

"High art"? Probably not. But it's unique, which is a rarity these days.

Edit: And yeah, Ejiofor is always worth watching. He's always been my go-to dream Trek casting, and now that it's happened in SFA, I don't quite know what to do with myself.

The only solution, of course, is more Ejiofor.

It's one of those lore things, like the SCP Foundation or any folk tales, this one just happened to come from 4chan.

The idea of liminal spaces being creepy or unnerving isn't new, the cumulative lore around an example of that is where you get this particular story.

The SCP Foundation is another good example of this.

Is it full nerd to read through fictional files on pretend beings, sure.

Is it enjoyable, also yes, for a particular subset of people.

The reason I think this is a good example is because this particular aggregate folk tale is bleeding into other projects.

The game Control has strong SCP vibes, as does abiotic factor.

You've also got niche stories like "There is no antimemetics division"

Here is a short (15 min) film covering the opening of that book

Spoilers obviously

I'm happy for him. He did what any of us would do for our kids, even with a huge career. I'm glad to see him come back.
