How to leave sound on iPhone but silence apple watch? (alien.top)

Just purchased the series 9. I can’t for the life of me figure out this issue. I don’t want my watch to beep, just vibrate. I have silence on my Apple Watch. But not on my iPhone. However when I get calls or text messages my phone does not ring or beep. Is there a way to make it so my watch is silent with vibration but have my iPhone with normal sounds?

    No if you have you watch on the watch will be what alerts you. Not the phone. Even if sound is on all the way up on the phone but your watch is connected you’ll feel the watch but your phone won’t ring

    Open Watch app.

    Click Notifications > Messages

    Make sure Custom is selected and not 'Mirror my iphone'

    You can then select deselect sound and haptics.
