Funny that 100 years later a bike looks basically the same. I mean, I know there are an awful lot of more subtle changes, including alloys, but other than the tires it looks pretty modern.

That's what a mature technology looks like.

For me, the nice thing about it is that it means anybody can have one, because even one that's 30 years old is perfectly good if it's not rusty or bent or something like that.

IDK, I ride my little suspensionless folding bike on grass all the time. If it gets really bumpy, you can (and probably should) just stand up.
