Flea market find (thelemmy.club)

I bought it because I liked how it looks. It's ok to ride too, weighing only slightly more than Portugal. Needs a bit of tlc.

I know Portugal is a small country, but it can't be that lightweight

[-] simbico@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

I think they meant a portuguese person

Americans will do anything to avoid using metric

Looks mad comfy. I like a coaster brake. Great bike for shopping and short trips

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Yep, 100% For longer trips I have other bikes, but they're all single speed or fixed gear. I'm a simple man, so I'm into simple things and dislike mechanical complexity of derailleurs and such. To be honest I'm not sure that even freewheel is such a great invention... ;P

Spoken like a person who lives somewhere flat.

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Well not completely flat, we have some decent hills, but granted they're not mountains.

a flea sold this bike to you?

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

No I'm pretty sure it was a person (without fleas). Or a flea with a really good human costume.

Flea market is something akin to a second hand store / goodwill / yard sale in europe.

thats my old bike, a bunch of fleas grabbed it and flew away

shouldve taken out a vial to blood to test for fleas in human costumes dam it

[-] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago

no wonder the fleas were selling that, there's no way something that small could ride a bike.

Standard model Dutch bicycle?

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Do you think it might be Dutch?

My bike when I lived in the Netherlands was somewhat more scary. It was a rattly old thing with poor brakes. Almost rode it into Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal once by accident.

An ebike conversion kit and i’d be all

It's practically perfect as it is! No need to ruin it with batteries!

This like it's in incredibly good condition and will keep rolling for years to come

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I wouldn't dream of ruining this beautiful thing that will likely last decades or better part of a century with fragile (and ugly) tech that will be obsolete or broken in a few years.

I'm still trying to figure out it the parent comment was sarcastic...

[-] Pirtatogna@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

Well you know, people have varying preferences when it comes to bikes. I'm very much in the "simple always works" camp.

Love the brand name
