Call me when they turn Cum Town into a graphic novel

[-] deforestgump@hexbear.net 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

There are at least 3 YouTube channels that have animated CumTown content.

Honestly this isn't academically/scientifically rigorous. It's unfortunate that Matt Christmas did not undertake some form of higher level learning to give a better framework to his ideas because otherwise it's most just vibes. As much as the college system sucks I don't think anyone can argue that it does give you the ability to put forward well thought arguments and ideas (or you can be a sellout striver as is usually the case).

[-] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 20 points 1 month ago

He does have some higher learning. I believe Matt has a bachelor's and master's degree in history. He talked several times about how he dropped out of his PhD program because he didn't want to go into academia and a history PhD is only useful if you are trying to become a history professor. I think that the more loose vibes based part is just because that is how he liked to deal with the Cush Vlog content and his streaming/podcasting style. He said that the Cush Vlog was him just airing out thoughts and ideas that came to him that day/week and seeing if other people thought there was something there to pursue further.

[-] Monk3brain3@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Yeah not so much criticizing him as opposed to kinda wishing he had done some academic level work because he definitely had a lot of interesting ideas. And honestly he was right about a lot of stuff he talked about. But if you're writing a book that contributes to ideally Marxist literature it needs to be a much more rigorous endeavor. As opposed to recreational reading for the left leaning.

Who is Ben Burgis? Can I get a quick rundown?

[-] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

Jacobin style soc-dem that does introductory philosophy content and debates people online.

[-] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

I'd describe him, but I don't wanna get banned

[-] determinism2@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

He was on the michael brooks show a few times - professor of logic or something. Did debate stuff, had a youtube - maybe still does, debates at people.

I'm looking forward to the ramblings on John R. Brinkley making it into this. https://youtu.be/2kJCqnPQosc?t=2682
