i'm curious too.

a little part of me is thankful for it because it caused me to think about how to make plans in the (i suspect) inevitable situation that my ruling class feels like lemmy.ml is getting too popular.

fortunately they've already captured lemmy.world and it's doing well enough to provide sufficient cover to let me enjoy lemmy.ml as my main means of social media consumption for now.

Can one download one's profile for upload onto another instance? Might be good to have a regular backup.

Seems to me we could have had fedi services earlier, and in a more finely grained decentralization, if progs like napster had been allowed to evolve into more comprehensive platforms. But those programs were a threat to almighty copyright.

We had some DNS issues, but they mostly seem to be resolved.
