A step in the right direction but I would prefer to have all non-essential car traffic banned in the inner city. They take up too much space and are in the way when I'm trying to get to work.

And they cite health and lung issues from pollution, but the vast majority of modern car pollution comes from tire and brake dust. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2023/07/09/tire-brake-tailpipes-emissions-pollution-cars/
Then it should be mentioned as well that brake dust is vastly reduced for electric vehicles at least, since the can often use regenerative braking without any friction.
Sometimes. But less so in stop and go traffic. Also since BEVs are very heavy tire, road and brake wear are all accelerated.
Hopefully the first step in that direction. I think it's easier to introduce legislation like this in parts.
If they banned all non-essential car traffic there'd probably be too many complaints. Reducing it partly, similar to how the shitty car structure was introduced, is the best way to keep people on with it
title says that all petrol and diesel cars are banned, yet it seems that Euro6 is allowed???
"Stockholm’s upcoming low-emission zone will only permit use of electric cars and gas cars that meet the Euro 6 emission standards. Euro 6 plug-in hybrid heavy vehicles will also be permitted."
I feel like this whole article is a nonsensical mashup. Has anyone even proofread this AI summary?
Would be useful if you could give an example of the "nonsensical mashup". Otherwise it feels like you are simply not ready to process an actually quite trite article.
first it talks about how everything is banned, then it starts backpedaling about how euro6 ICE cars are allowed. it seems like the first part is copy-pasted from completely different article. at the very least it wasn't even proofread.
You need to read what I highlighted.
The photo is misleading; it is of a pedestrianised square in the Old Town, an area of medieval cobbled streets where cars are restricted to a few roads around the perimeter. The low emission zone will not be in the Old Town but in Norrmalm, to the north of it and across the water.
Well it pairs with the misleading headline saying "petrol & diesel cars banned" and then the first sentence of the article says Euro6 ICE are allowed.
I don't think this media is a very reliable source
Be like goku and go even further beyond, ban all personal, non-emergency cars from the city center.
Does Sweden have separate rules for "historic vehicles"? I'm asking because in Germany all cars registered as such are allowed to enter these restricted zones regardless of their emission standard.
Same in the UK. I can’t drive through Oxford’s zero emission zone in my wife’s Euro 6 VW Golf without a fine, but I can in my 1967 carburetted Beetle…
Good to know that I can bring my car on holiday then :D
Great news for air pollution
Not by much unfortunately. Car tires and brakes release very dangerous particles that are even smaller than PM2.5, but considering that the majority of cars are petrol cars, the pool of vehicles should be smaller.
on the contrary i'm sure pollution hates to read news like this
Thats good
