    All the Soviets really achieved was Chernobyl and the destruction of the Aral Sea, and a parody of western capitalism in which Communist party officials enjoyed a good standard of living and everyone else did not.

    Honestly props to the lib ass Tyee for publishing this. I wish Saito's book wasn't as opaque as it is, as I think degrowth communism is obviously a great direction (though not necessarily meaningfully different from other degrowth arguments.)

    Fair enough, and I don't really hate The Tyee. They may post liberal articles from time to time, but they post meaningful ones as well, such as this one. I wouldn't really declare them overall "liberal," in my honest opinion, but that's just me, I suppose. Still, some things can be learned from "liberal" news outlets.
