President Musk must have great leverage over office assistant Trump to last this long.

Being reported as Onion-level satire, however (despite the click-bait headline), American Prospect has a solid history and track record.

Failed Fact Checks

None in the Last 5 years

I want to marry this rag.

Keep focusing on Musk.

Trump will lose his shit that he's not the one in the spot light.

Trump will throw him out.

[–] [email protected] 112 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Musk is forgetting one of the most important rules of fascism. You can't become god emperor while the previous god emperor is still alive.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 2 days ago (2 children)

You can’t become god emperor while the previous god emperor is still alive.

Musk easily has enough money to make that happen.

[–] [email protected] 22 points 2 days ago

Don't threaten me with a good time!

[–] [email protected] 85 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If we're very lucky they'll destroy each other.

[–] [email protected] 63 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What is it about this timeline that makes you think we're lucky?

[–] [email protected] 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We’re due? 🤷‍♂️

[–] [email protected] 14 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, this is a common misunderstanding with how probability works.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago

Come on, this machine is hot. It's bound to pay out anytime now.

"What's five hundred million times zero? AND DON'T SAY IT'S ZERO!"

[–] [email protected] 114 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Biden still being the actual president during this is entirely lost.

[–] [email protected] 41 points 2 days ago (2 children)

For real, Biden should tell him to sit down Young Muskifucker. But he's probably just gonna let it slide as a sneak preview.

[–] [email protected] 43 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Biden is the oligarchies old guy. He ain't gonna do shit, just like he hasn't done shit as fascism seized power. Trump/MAGA/Musk is the oligarchies NEW guy. The oligarchy IS fascism.

So what I am reading is its better if we all pick up the Green Mario banner now instead of later?

Or, an official act blue shell

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 days ago

I know, right?

[–] [email protected] 53 points 2 days ago

Oh no, this isn’t the onion community.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

Read the article, that title is shit and neither of those things happened. He just posted on twitter a lot.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The title means that Musk acted as if he's the president and dictated to Republicans to not pass the legislation that needs to pass. It doesn't mean he literally declared himself president. That would be stupid.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago

I'll be honest, I was not gonna be surprised if he had done that.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 2 days ago

Well yeah. I don't think they were trying to be too serious with this one.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

If conservatives can write sensationalist titles....

love and war, etc.

[–] [email protected] 49 points 2 days ago

The general media narrative: the qons all voted for "populism", because of "economic anxiety".

Meanwhile, we are watching two billionaires having a hissy over who's going to be the boss in January....Clearly, these two have the concerns of the "forgotten man" foremost in their thoughts and actions.... 🙄

We are literally living in some dystopian film. Xelon is the evil that we all need to defeat.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 2 days ago (2 children)

We need a better nickname than Xelon. He needs to be referred to as setting way dumber than that

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

He has an obsession with the letter "X", so that's why I started calling him Xelon. It's Xelon Xusk if we're being formal. We need to Space X him out to Mars as soon as possible.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I just call him "Schmuck".

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

I previously was referring to him as "that junkie".

[–] [email protected] 38 points 2 days ago

Any normal President wouldn't threaten Congress in this way. He's acting as Supreme Ruler right now.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Okay the madnes of Trump's second term will cause untold suffering, but it sure will be interesting to watch.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

"I might get murdered in my sleep for being queer or hunted down and jailed for my political beliefs, but at least I'll be entertained!"

[–] [email protected] 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Nobody can stop this train. You may as well learn to laugh at the absurdity of it all.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago

I'll laugh when I wake up and realize my being in America right now was just a bad dream and actually I had moved many years prior to a nice little bungalow on the southern coast of Spain where I have a well-established vineyard and a little garden and coincidentally have become fluent in Spanish. I will laugh with particular enthusiasm over the news of the chaos in America just before settling in for my siesta, after which I'll make off-color jokes with my neighbors over a glass or two of homemade sherry about when we can expect Trump to meet with an unfortunate accident involving a window.

That's when I'll laugh.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I literally changed my voter registration because this election made me remember my address and party affiliation are public record in my state.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Same. I'll never register Dem again unless there's a progressive primary candidate.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You have to register which party you are going to vote?! Really?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

You have to register which party you are going to vote?! Really?

You must live in a civilized country.

You can say no preference or independent. One purpose of party affiliation is to determine which primaries you get to vote in. So if you are a Democrat you can't vote in a Republican primary. But of course you can switch any time.

The entire system is designed to ensure that only the two establishment parties can win elections.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The article doesn't show any evidence of Musk 'declaring himself President', and he didn't (and can't) shut down the government either.

What the fuck is this headline?

[–] [email protected] 11 points 2 days ago (3 children)

He convinced Trump to stop it while also threatening GOP lawmakers with primary money if they supported the original bill.

Musk directly caused this more than any one other person.
