The US shared shoddy intel. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SevenOfWine@startrek.website 10 points 2 years ago (1 child) Shoddy intel which was better than what the FSB had on offer. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] naturalgasbad@lemmy.ca -3 points 2 years ago (1 child) I wasn't aware you had contacts in the FSB. Do tell. The public nature of the announcement likely pushed the terrorists to ground and forced them to come up with a new plan. Duty to warn is usually done privately for a reason. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] SevenOfWine@startrek.website 4 points 2 years ago* (1 child) If you think the FSB had good intel, that means you think they decided to ignore it and allow the terrorist attack in Moscow to happen. I don't think they're that evil. But hey, maybe you're right. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] naturalgasbad@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 years ago I think it's pretty clear that intel for the initially planned Crocus attack was well known. For some odd reason, that I couldn't possibly fathom, the terrorists decided to call it off and do it another day. The initially planned dates had a more popular concert IIRC, so it would've been a better target. permalink fedilink source parent
