I have an x86 openWRT router running on ProxMox. An Asus AC68U running Merlin or Fresh Tomato (tried both).

My router is at 192.168.1.1. I would like my Wi-Fi access point to be available at 192.168.1.2. I would like my Wi-Fi devices to be assigned their DHCP addresses by the router.

Eventually, I would like a couple virtual SSIDs, and VLAN traffic.

However, today, all I want to do is access my access point management consul, and get my devices online.

I’ve had a hell of a time. The closest I got was that the access point was on 192.168.2.1, and I could manually tell each Wi-Fi device to use the correct 1.1 gateway.

I am assuming I may need different subnets, and I may need at least some firewall rules, routes, or NATwork.

Stuck; please help.

Yes and yes.

Merlin has a more called Access Point.

Tomato has you disable DHCP, assign an IP, specify the gateway, and uncheck some DNS checkbox.
