I managed to install OPNSense and it has been working nicely for the last year or so. Now I would like to use VLANs to segregate my devices. I understand that a managed or smart switch will be needed for this and have been looking at the HPE Aruba Instant On 1830 24x POE, I had almost decided to go for it but then found the Cisco CBS220-24T-4G, that happens to be passive and to my eyes has the same specs as the Aruba, price is almost the same.

I would like to have an AP that works nicely with the switch, so for the Aruba I am looking at the AP25, what would be a good counterpart for the Cisco?

What do you say? I am open to other recommnedations but willl try to avoid Netgear, Zyxel or TP Link if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Matching vendors is not necessary. I have Ruckus APs and a Cisco 3750 switch playing nicely with pfSense and multiple VLANs, both wired and wireless.

Before going down either road, check licensing for the equipment you are considering.

Those start at 1000€ here...

I only meant you don't need to match vendors.
