By eliminating items they reduce the complexity in the factory. Those items don’t have to be ordered, received, stored, picked and packed. They don’t need integrating into the phone packing process. The packaging itself can be simplified. It eliminates dealing with issues with suppliers or the risk that the items don’t arrive in time to be packed which might stop the process. It eliminates dealing with faults associated with those items reported by customers.

Supplying something the customer doesn’t need is waste by overproduction. It has costs that go far beyond the value of the items themselves or direct shipping costs.
