Had it in the past but then moved to an adblocking dns solution. But it seems my tablet isn't handling this well, and casting youtube has a lot of adds. Will pihole fix this? I don't need my 3yr old watching playstation adds...

They are talking about Elsa-gate, where YouTube suggests inappropriate content to children due to people making inappropriate content oriented towards children.

Ads aside, If you wish to protect your child from YouTube itself your best bet is to use your personal account or an existing adult account and be consistent in curating it. It is very, very easy to get into terrible content that's "for kids" very quickly
