The upside is that his disapproval numbers are worse than Jimmy Carter.

He definitely can find a few hundred people to sit behind him and clap, but come November, his candidates are fuuuuuucked.

We've already seen what happens when the results are rejected: Nothing.

As for the military being deployed to voting booths, you do realize that it's logistically impossible to pull that off nationwide, right? (Particularly so in the middle of a hot war.)

It's fine to speculate, but I don't think any of these doomer election fantasies make real world sense. If Donald's going to fuck with the election, it's going to be via the mail system, because he can do that 100% legally.

Americans are going to vote so overwhelmingly against his candidates that it won't be possible to feasibly rig the mid-terms. $6 gas, not being able to afford groceries, and soaring homelessness will mean consequences for the ruling party. It always does.

I think you're forgetting/glossing over the fact that he's built a fascist paramilitary on American soil to use against American citizens. They're already in all the neighborhoods across the country, why wouldn't they be sent to the polls to "stand guard"?

They can stand guard all they want.

Unless those ICE agents are handing out grocery and rent money, it's not going to matter. People are way more afraid of starvation and homelessness than they are of ICE at this point.

This is what Republicans don't understand now and Democrats didn't understand in 2024. Nothing motivates a voter more than poverty, and certainly not fear of masked douche bags. The poor are and have already been living under fascism for many years now, and in more than a few places people actually have a choice that is neither Republican nor centrist.

I think that if you are a brown or black person, then ICE agents lurking around and accosting people, asking for ID and dragging people into vehicles to be whisked away, might make you decide not to approach the polling place.

The doomers don't understand the scale of US elections. He would have to issue an executive order saying "all votes are invalid" to change things at this point. Not that that's beyond him, but that's a whole different discussion than all the talk about ICE showing up at polling places.

No. It's the whole fact that there is no one left to enforce the law. Everyone can cry foul all we want. Is Kash Patel gonna arrest him? Is Tom Homan going to arrest him? Is Pete hegseth going to arrest him? Is Todd Blanche going to arrest him? Wil lthe SCOTUS side with democrats' lawsuits? Who will enforce any of this when they violate the orders like they are currently doing with HUNDREDS of court orders right now?

I hope your predictions are correct about what will happen. Thank you for deeming my question about preparations "doomer election fantasies" whatever that means.

Do you know if lemmy has a remindme bot?

If it makes you feel better, I did also accurately predict that Kamala Harris would lose in September 2024. Not being on algorithmically-weighted social media, I'm not really dialed in to the fearmongering around the next election.

I don't know if it has a RemindMe bot, but feel free to take a screenshot if you like.
