This image captures the moment a former high school football star breaks down in court when his rape charge is dismissed. The dismissal occurred after the 16-year-old accuser admitted that the alleged incident never happened, concluding six years he spent in prison.

It's so easy that people keep dragging out this one example from 14 years ago when he was exonerated for a false accusation made 24 years ago.

Interesting that this is posted today. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see the few cases like this being posted to help the narrative that rape victims commonly use false accusations.

False rape accusations occur around the same rate as any other false crime accusation. About 5%.

Compared to the fact that 90% of rape perpetrators never see the inside of the courtroom, it’s clear the entire system is fucked in how they handle rape cases.

He was forced to take a plea deal before the case could be heard by a jury because of racism:

Faced with a possible 41-year-to-life sentence, he accepted a plea bargain that included six years in prison, five years of probation, and registering as a sex offender. Banks stated that he took the deal after his lawyer told him that he stood almost no chance at trial because he would likely be tried by an all-white jury who would only see "a big, black teenager." According to Banks, his lawyer convinced him that by pleading no contest he would receive probation, but no jail time. With only ten minutes to decide and denied the right to counsel with his mother, Banks took the deal.

It's no different than the .0001% of people that use abortion as a form of birth control or the .0001% of immigrants that take advantage of the system and social safety nets. They (the shit bags and GOP) will cling to those few situations it happens as proof it's everywhere and push propaganda.

Abortion and immigration, the two examples I was directly referring to, are not bipartisan.

Rape propaganda for false accusations and real accusations are also something that mostly falls on party lines.

exactly. people keep talking about epstein classes and then say things i'll paraphrase as "i'm glad #metoo's over". it seems people only want to guillotine privileged rapists when it's a shortcut to end an argument
