This illustrates more clearly what the previously seen safety nets are for! It has a plastic "roof", prompted by the upstairs neighbour smoking out of his window, dropping down ashes and even the occasional cigarette butt. This roof is what became of the plastic table cloth that I initially bought as a curtain btw ๐
The netting is reinforced with wire, purpose-made for protecting cats and the most robust product I've found in this category. In the two years I've had it, my cat hasn't made a single attempt at damaging it, but she wouldn't stand a chance. P.S. you were probably confusing the thinner netting (that is for flower beds) with the actual protective one. The thin stuff is only placed in there to make it look & feel more secure for her, which actually worked. She was very cautious initially, but I realized the board also had a slight slope outwards, which I corrected by putting thin boards on the holders underneath.
