Caesar Salad is named after a Mexican Italian chef, Caesar Cardini. Who is well known for overseeing the Roman Republics collapse into an empire.

To add: his name did end up becoming the definition of emperor in many Germanic and Slavic languages (e.g. Kaiser and czar)

    Fun fact: ceasar was pronounced more like Keasar which makes the Kaiser appear more sensible. I wondered for years how that happened and then learned the original pronunciation

    We also use the original sound in Japanese for the historical figures and title i.e. カエサル (kaesaru), but the English pronunciation for Caesar salad i.e. シーザーサラダ (shīzā sarada).
