Ottawa mayoral candidate Jeff Leiper has promised to triple funding for night ambassadors and safety outreach, fill empty commercial spaces and create a dedicated area for festivals to improve the ByWard Market if elected later this month.

But he still won't tell us how he plans to pay for this stuff. Like... I would love to vote for this guy. But work with me here.

With a finite budget, I'd prefer my (entertainment) taxes be spent closer to me.

When the car is king, everything else just becomes hard to get to or not very interesting.

Even if the train came out near me, I still would prefer not to commute 20k for an entertainment experience. Expecting me to leave my neighbourhood to do stuff weakens my neighbourhood.
