Typically, modern GMO crops are not designed to use less water, or handle cold weather better. No, they are designed to be sprayed with glyphosate (see: Roundup) and not die. That way, the farmer doesn't have to weed the field, and corn or other crops can be grown / harvested easier. If they were using the tech for other things, I see no problem with it, but instead, it's used to sell shit loads of glyphosate and have it sprayed all over the food we eat.
