Yeah looks like lemmy.world is slow today. Not surprised due to the influx of users. Ruud and the team has been working on it diligently the last couple of weeks, expanding hardware, writing code, fixing bugs, etc. Please be patient as we grow!

Then maybe stop passing this off as an alternative? For people whining about the UX of the new reddit app, this is also garbage.

So instances = subs but you have to sign up for each one?

Naw, an instance is a server that can host content, but it's connected to every other instance that agrees to federate with each other. You can think of it as an email address, Gmail and Yahoo have their own features but can communicate with each other no problem.
