SALINE COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) — A Norwegian man attempting to rollerblade across the U.S. was killed in a hit-and-run in Kansas, officials said.

The Saline County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 24-year-old Joachim Lanham.

Lanham was documenting his rollerblading journey across the U.S. on Instagram. According to a post from his family, he was hit by an SUV on day 22 of his journey from New York to Los Angeles

The amount of stuff transported is largely a function of population density; if you have 10 groceries serving 50000 vs 100 groceries serving 50000 people, you're not reducing the amount of stuff that needs to be transported.

So the traffic effects get worse the more dispersed the warehouses are as they spend more time on the road driving longer distances and the smaller the average capacity of the vehicles.

You wouldn't want 1 warehouse at the edge of a city of >1 million unleashing a flood of vans ir cargobikes on the city.

    Yeah ig so, but we also don’t have semi trucks all over our city for grocery shops, usually small trucks, vans or bikes. So not sure how it works here fully ig? Only one place here that we know for sure uses semi trucks is the mall.

    We’re not sure what the best solution would be personally, but even here semi trucks give way to pedestrians where pedestrians are. So possibly have areas where pedestrians can’t be (like normal roads and stuff). Though admittedly never thought of this extensively so next time we’re working on our fantasy cities for D&D or comic week have to keep it in mind and study up on efficient ways to do retail deliveries! :3
