I watched this talk just yesterday. Really interesting and thoughtful design ideas. For anyone who might be disagreeing with the idea on the basis of the title alone, he recognises that the desktop experience has changed since displays have become larger and Microsoft and Apple are no longer innovating. I think this might be why we've found tiling window managers (for example) to be more functional in recent years.
