People look at the OT with such rose-colored glasses. There's so much of it that isn't great.

    People are hyper-critical of all movies/shows these days while also being media illiterate. Expecting a 100% cohesive plot, and pretending they're a critic because some Youtuber points out movie structure and plot devices.

    And no, seeing a plot device doesn't mean a movie or a show is bad. It just means you recognized a story telling narrative device.

    Yeah it's campy. But as long as it's not the sloppified version, it's fine. I don't mind films of that era.

    Even Lucas tweaking his films, was done for a reason. He was pioneering new technology, and was using his movies to showcase how that could be done. Some of it worked brilliantly, and other times it doesn't work as well.

    Even stuff like Mandalorian has this issue. The Volume is a great piece of technology to use for filmmaking. There are definitely guardrails for it, and it works better in some cases than others, but you don't know that until you actually use the tech.

    It's so fucking dumb people criticize things like that.
