To be fair this culture of overworking yourself to a point of counterproductivity like that isn't exclusive to America. Japan and Korea come to mind as being even worse. But yeah, seriously, that's no excuse.

    i work a 30-35 hour a week job. everyone i meet tells me i'm a lazy piece of shit and i need to be working 60 hour weeks.

    mostly because they are bitter and jealous. I'm also financially secure... and they aren't... even if they make 2-3x what I do.
