My ex girlfriend was on a murder trial. The perpetrator (who was convicted) shot the victim in an altercation. However, after being shot but before dying, the victim rushed the perpetrator and beat the shit out of him with his bare hands. So yeah, obviously not a justified shooting in this case but it does show how shooting once is often not enough to stop an attacker.
