to a worse one

This seems to be quite the leap. Elaborate?

    Closed = very bad

    Android is open source, so you can at least make your fork and find a way to load it on phones that support bootloader unlocking, while harmony is closed so you cannot do that which is objectively worse

    As others have said harmony is setup exactly the same as android, open source OS on which a closed source customized flavor is built. It's exactly as bad or not bad as android is in this regard. The flavor being in control of a Chinese corporation instead of an American one is another issue.

    That's reasonable thank you. I suppose I always took androids open source nature to be largely "theoretical"(?) given googles controlling stake and simply the nature of the mobile market where effectively every android device is running googles proprietary version. HarmonyOS is in reality in the same boat given it has OpenHarmony in parallel to HarmonyOS in the same way AOSP is parallel to Android.
