It beeps when you place it on the base.

But today, it beeps no more.

The difference is the rice cooker doesnt have metal parts launching upwards creating a very loud distinct sound that already indicates in the room that the toast is done.

With that said there were some really cool old toasters from like the 1950's that had self toasting where you put the slices in and it automatically drops down and then rises quietly back up when its done. If that one had a small song I could at least understand that.

    My cheap rice cooker has a single switch and when it’s done it flips position. That sucker is super loud, and I love how basic it is

    Only gripe is that you have to unplug it to turn it off fully, otherwise it’s in “warm” mode
