American late-night host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel encountered significant public backlash following Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which featured 'Israeli' actress Gal Gadot as a primary guest.

Gadot’s appearance on the show drew sharp criticism from pro-Palestine viewers and activists online, sparking calls to boycott the segment.

Okay maybe I got the wrong information from stereotypes about Israhell but doesn't it not make sense to use "was in the IDF" as a reason to ban Gal because military conscription in that country is mandatory? It would not be too different from banning anyone in a given country where they are a recorded citizen.

You are correct. Conscription is mandatory and she was only in the idf for two years. She fulfilled the conscription requirement and didn't volunteer further.

However, she is an outspoken supporter of isreal and very much a cultural ambassador. Given many of her more recent statements and actions, she's clearly very supportive of the current government, and a fair inclusion in isreali boycotts.

But yes, you shouldn't damn someone for idf membership alone, as that is a stain on their circumstances rather than character.
