[–] Astrealix@lemmy.world [S] 1 point 3 weeks ago (3 children) Also never a fucking pen for a foul on Konsa lmao permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] Aesecakes@aussie.zone 3 points 3 weeks ago* (2 children) The justification for it in the post match discussion, once again, doesn’t match up to what actually happened on the pitch. Premier League Match Centre (tweet) #SUNARS - 54' The referee's call of penalty to Sunderland for a holding offence by Konsa on Ballard was checked and confirmed by VAR. REF: "He's all over him at the near post facing the wrong way". VAR: "I'm happy that it's a holding offence. The foul is confirmed. Confirming the on-field decision of penalty". I saw it as Konsa being tight (facing the ball) on Ballard. Ballard has a big fistful of Konsa’s shirt, pulling him over and around. Good judo but No pen in football. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Aesecakes@aussie.zone 2 points 3 weeks ago LOL. Mikel even evoked judo in his post-match interview. permalink fedilink source parent [–] VesNL@lemmy.world 1 point 3 weeks ago Agree. Though Arteta's reaction was over the top. It doesn't matter in his 25-30 years of football that it wasn't a penalty. They changed the rules starting this season. And there will always be people trying to abuse new rules. VAR should have done better (jokes on me) but they only looked at the defender. The guys at MotD reponsed to this well. Hopefully the PGMOL agrees or we're going to see more players dropping lol ke flies at the slightest hold permalink fedilink source parent
