Fashion advice for the color blind? (slrpnk.net)

Something that effects many (8+%) men is color blindness, most commonly red-green, but there are other variants. I'm wondering how color blind people out there handle fashion.

Personally, my case is not that severe (and I got better night / distance vision in compensation, more rods, less cones), but I'm still aware that 95+% of people see colors differently. This leads me to conservative choices, neutral + one color generally, perhaps with shades. Generally that means black + dark peacock tones + silver in my case, gothic tendencies, and I dress mostly to please myself, but still, one wonders how it's seen.

Those with it, what are your strategies ? Are there trust worthy guides that don't look bad to you? I find some color combinations that are usually considered good pretty off. Perhaps a list of color combinations that the general population finds bad to avoid?

Those without it, what are your thoughts?

Being color blind will be a bit of a hassle and that will make it hard to be adventurous with color but you still have shape, texture, pattern, luster, and drape to work with if you want to be adventurous.

You can contrast big pants and small shirts, use fisherman knits and embroidery for texture, bold patterns like faire isle sweaters or loud restor shirts, contrast dull matte wollens with shiny rayon, or contrast drapey silk with thick jackets with lots of body.

Losing color vision gets in the way of only a small fraction of what you have to work with
