They aren't that expensive. $80-155AUD in Australia (Kmart). Spreading the purchases out over a few weeks would be doable on a maccas salary.

Those are almost certainly desiccant dehumidifiers and not heat pump dehumidifiers, which would not be even close to keeping up with an equivalent number of humidifiers.

The $155 is heat pump, 89 appears to be dessicant. I own the 155 one, and I don't think it would keep up with a humidifier, but its definitely a heat pump.
