Longtermism is only prioritizing long term concerns at the expense of present day suffering. It is a pathological devaluing of the present. I say this as an environmental scientist and paleobiologist who advocates taking a long term perspective whenever possible.

Also, calling trans people transhumanist is imo pretty offensive

Part of that paragraph was me literally saying that they are not transhumanist, I said that they represent something closer to the goal of transhumanism than anyone else that actually exists- because I cant think of any real world example that better fits the notion of using technology to modify ones body to better fit one's ideal self than the transition process that many (I'm aware not all) trans people go through. If you have a more fitting example I'd love to hear it, but everything else I can think of are either designed to somewhat restore lost features (like prosthetics), or are extremely mild modifications, or are vaporwear that does not actually exist and therefore does not count as a contemporary comparison.

If that has offended you or somebody else that sees this, then I apologize for causing it- that wasn't the intention, but as I don't see why it should be offensive and still think the point that I was trying to make with that is valid, I stand by what I was saying with that for now, though am open to a different way of demonstrating it if you have one that seems better.
