A place to discuss positive changes that can make work more equitable, and to vent about current practices. We are NOT against work; we just want the fruits of our labor to be recognized better.

Our Philosophies:

All workers must be paid a living wage for their labor.
Income inequality is the main cause of lower living standards.
Workers must join together and fight back for what is rightfully theirs.
We must not be divided and conquered. Workers gain the most when they focus on unifying issues.

Our Goals

Higher wages for underpaid workers.
Better worker representation, including but not limited to unions.
Better and fewer working hours.
Stimulating a massive wave of worker organizing in the United States and beyond.
Organizing and supporting political causes and campaigns that put workers first.

This lines up pretty well where I live and I’m in a major metro area (San Antonio). Rent would get you something pretty small though but not impossible. Food, phone and internet are about spot on for what I pay currently. Utilities for a small studio/1br track about there. Transportation is a bit off depending on if you own a car or not.

But regardless, even if the numbers are close, it just drives the point home that much more.

minimum wage in every state is $7.25 due to it being the federal minimum wage. it's just that a few blue states made local laws making non-federal jobs have a higher state minimum wage in cities (emphasis on cities only). -- but these states also raised the city tax to compensate which cancels out half of the minimum wage raise.

but it's better than red states where many filthy republicans have been trying to introduce laws lowering the minimum wage while still increasing taxes.
