Let me explain:

I enjoy spirited driving, track days, go karting, and some other parts of cars and car culture. At the same time, I believe public transit needs to be dramatically, massively reprioritized over passenger cars. And I think trucks and SUVs should require a commercial driver's license to legally operate.

And I put my money where my mouth is by gladly paying the ~$1000 per year RTA excise when renewing tabs for the expensive sporty electric wagon I own, which funds Sound Transit 3, in my opinion the nation's most ambitious and impactful transit expansion.

I also often use the light rail to get to and from Seattle proper from the suburbs. And I very often have friends come visit whom I pick up and drop off at that same transit station.

When I travel abroad I go out of my way to refuse taxis, much preferring to use transit or even walking when that's a reasonable alternative.

And at home I, at nearly all costs, avoid ever using any "rideshare" platforms.
