Blahaj has downvotes disabled. So unless I login on an account from an instance that has them enabled, I don’t see them. I don’t care about internet points anyway.

Report: Nearly half of Israeli youth fail to enter or complete IDF service

The article is 6 years old, so stats likely have changed since then. It would seem that Zionists on lemmy are talking out of their ass when they speak of conscription in the Israeli war crime machine.

What are you talking about, there are absolutely pro-palestinian Israelis fighting the good fight and they are welcome.

This is about Zionism, a fascist ideology.

I'm talking about the false assumption that any downvoter must be a zionist.

Maybe they just don't like manipulative bullshit.

Joining the IDF is mandatory for all kids at adulthood and they grow up under the boom boom iron dome umbrella.

The only butthurt ones on here are those ruled by rage and unwilling to understand the cause of things.

I proudly look down upon anyone who takes part in an ethnic cleansing. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. Plenty of Israeli’s receive exemptions.

No one ever asks if Palestine has a right to exist.

And I applaud the initiative. But people are people and we all have bias towards "ours" vs "theirs".

I'm not defending Gadot. The kids growing up in Israel are conditioned since young, as in any nationalistic country. And those rebelling against their own country being on the right side of a conflict are usually the exception, not the rule.

It took a long while for the US to reach where it's at and they've done some ugly things so far. Yet even now there are "patriots" stirring the stinky pot. Can't say Israel reached the same stage, but it takes time to unlatch if one can at all.

She was a fitness instructor for two years mandatory service before the conflict and never even used a weapon in combat. Chill your hate a little, not everybody in the world who has attended mandatory military service is a bad person or deserves your hate. Spreading that much hate spreads a seed of violence which is how IDF and the Hamas ended up where they are now. Killing millions of innocent people in the blind rage that hate produces.

She donates to Israeli NGOs but won't donate to Palestinian NGOs. She blames people opposing Israel for her latest movie flopping. She won't take down posts supporting Israel, even though she clearly gets public pressure to do so, but she will take down even a modicum of public support for Palestine (I think the instagram story in question was something along the lines of killing innocent Palestinians is horrific) when other Israelis pressure her. She's also presented her IDF period in a positive light and is publicly proud of being an Israeli. Oh and she did a private screening of the Oct 7 attacks for garner sympathy from Hollywood, I doubt you'll get her to do a private screening of the IDF killing children.

She might not be spreading hate herself but she is 100% complicit in with what her country is doing. Just because she publicly keeps her head in the sand does not absolve her from supporting a genocidal country.

How dare she being proud of her heritage?! Its not unlike America, there are doing the killing all the time and their citizens are still proud are they not? Let's hate all Americans as well. Ah well let's hate everyone, even gal gadot if we already started...

You can be proud and critical of your country. In fact I'd argue being proud of your country should make you extremely critical of your country when it's doing something you disagree with. I'll leave it up to you to decide why she's both proud of Isreal and not critical over what Israel is doing.

I agree. She loves her country and people and is still critical of what they do. That is a position I can understand and tolerate without blindly hating her for it.

I guess this is where we disagree. I don't think she's actually critical of what Israel does. If anything post Oct 7 she seems to be more supportive of what Israel does.

What you're doing here is no different from the Myth of the clean Wehrmacht

No, not every person who serves is a bad person, the ones with a conscious become ANTI-WAR AVOCATES FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE once they become disillusioned.

All YOU are doing is defending fascists who continue to be fascists with NO change of heart. YOU should reevaluate yourself when you compare the victims of 76 years of ethnic cleansing to the perpetrators. Like holy shit.

This comment is the perfect example of complicity.

You just both sided IDF and HAMAS. While ignoring the disproportionate amount of civilian killings in the conflict between them.

And armed rebelion against your colonizer is protected by international law which was created precisely to avert these type of situations. Would you also consider jewish militant groups who fought against nazis as terrorists?

You also make it sound as if as long as somone who doesn't kill children by their bare hands, they are not worthy of blame.

ANYONE who interacts with the genocidal maniacs that is IDF and does not come out calling out the inherent racism, is worthy of hatred.

I don't want to comment on the GG / IDF issue because I know nothing about it. But

ANYONE who interacts with the genocidal maniacs that is IDF and does not come out calling out the inherent racism, is worthy of hatred.

Hating makes every problem worse and only reflects on yourself, only affects your own character and feelings. Consider people who condone unspeakable things as mentally ill and in need of therapy and/or learning empathy. Don't hate them because it makes you a worse person.

If al qaeda forced kids and raised them as terrorists, you would still call them terrorists. Same goes for these terrorists in occupied Palestine.

Pretty sure we are not talking about 12 year olds. I will concede that they are brainwashed, but let’s give them some agency here.

    It was an arbitrary number.

We already know that cult brainwashing is hard to undo, even when the victim is willing. You can't expect people to wave away years of conditioning during the formative period with a snap of the hand. It's unrealistic.

Also, agency is contextual. It's circumstances which dictate what information one acts on and in which way it is perceived.

If by super-jewish you mean Hasidic Jews, they seem to be fairly anti-Zionist from the YouTube videos I've seen both in Israel and in the US. On comment I recall from someone in Israel was asking the lines of "we lived side-by-side in peace with our Muslim brothers before 1948, why can't we now" or something. It was said by someone in one of the ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods in Israel that had Palestinian flags painted on most buildings as a sign of support.

Can't seem to find actually numbers though on support/opposition to Zionism among ultra-Orthodox Jews. I did find [this] (https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/ultra-orthodox-anti-zionist/) which gives a bit of info on why they generally oppose Zionism.

Well, they're the obnoxious base of the beliefs which rule the ethno-state. If they don't exempt them, it all collapses. But I think by now, they're likely thinking of ways of ridding themselves of these hindrances as they seem more trouble than they're worth as a foundation.
