More lanes doesn't solve anything. It only increases traffic by induced demand.

What really helps to accommodate increasing traffic is to lower the speed limit, so more cars can fit in the same lane.

    If you get induced demand that means your city is way behind in getting people where they want to be. If people didn't want to go places they would live in remote locations. Instead they live in cities because of the options.

    Once again, maybe you should build better transit. Don't use induced demand as an excuse to not let people get places.
