There is a very American explanation for this. Capitalists have to run everything so Communists are seen as evil from the start. If you ignore how US minorities were treated, Russia and China were really up their citizens asses. Russia dropped the ball on the whole consumer electronics sector so you’re left with China and their Great Firewall, social monitoring, etc. Thus information control and Orwellian monitoring = China.

The reality is that both tankies and capitalist dick riders are just two raccoons in the same feed sack, they only came into it from different ends.

Of course the UK also catches flak for being an over monitored nanny state, depending on which way the wind is blowing.
