We call them bye weeks. Never heard the term in context of football.

    Different but related concept! Moratorium weeks are institutional blocks of time (standard in college, depending on the academic schedule/seriousness for highschool) where you're not allowed to engage with your sport - no coaching, no practice, etc. Generally these are for things like finals/midterms. You see them most commonly talked about in american football because of it's popularity, but it's a thing in pretty much any college sport. My institution has extended them to even include the HvZ and League of Legends games.
