VLC started taking 33 seconds to open an MP3 and everyone blamed VLC. Turns out Windows Defender was quarantining its plugin cache, and the same update is breaking a lot more than one video player. Fix at the end.

It’s more that vlc doesn’t render advanced subs properly last I checked, iirc hdr support is iffy too but that could have changed.
