Im in the middle of immegrating and I'd say that translators (not specifically LLMs, though I wouldnt be surprised if Google translate is all LLM powered now) have been indespensible for me to navigate. But I also try to use them to supplement what my classes are teaching. Like I'm at the store, I need to find the coffee, and I don't know the word for coffee, so I look up just that word since I know "where is x"

It's slower than looking up everything, but most of the time I find I learn decently well. Some things though like being at the pharmacy and trying to explain what kind of thing I need, I fully use translate for because my gesturing and toddler level speak isn't gonna cut it.

I'd never use it on homework though, except maybe to double check something I'm guessing on. How does anyone expect to learn?
