Make the live streams cheap and easily accessible, no geo blocking or other gate-keeping stupidities , and the problem will resolve itself. Most people are fine to subscribe if it's a reasonable price and easy to get to.

Some ppl are always gonna pirate, by choice, but they're the minority.

Yep. This is why I will never pay them anything, ever. Their business model is incompatible with value or sustainability. They will only ever achieve quality for a brief moment in time, to acquire funding and customers, then they will rape you to death and tell you they had no choice.

You need 3 different subscriptions and a VPN for Amazon Prime to watch all Champions league und regular Season football (soccer) games where I live. It costs about 120EUR ~ 140 USD/month to follow my team.

For a period of time Viaplay showed all Premier League and Champions League games for a reasonable price (I think it was around 30โ‚ฌ per month, but it was before corona) in my country, it was so good that people from other countries signed up to follow their team during the season. It was great, but since then they have doubled their price, lost Champions League, some of the Premier League games and the quality of the commentators and studio has decreased.

I actually used to watch Champions League on CBS / Paramount for a while with a US VPN when it was only 4,99 per month and before Trump took over the management. Ever since Trump is back in power I refuse to pay a cent for US services.

I agree. I paid for years for music and video streaming, but all I see is widespread enshitification, rising prices and the reintroduction of ads, despite paying. On top of that everything I do is used for profiling and surveillance. It is sickening. I'll happily pay for the service that gives me a good product and does not track me.

Lastly, you give them money and you still don't own anything. I cancelled my Kindle subscription after all the stories of them pulling books out of people's private libraries after they paid for them.

Some of the most successful piracy rings are paid services. This is particularly true of live sports - I've tried watching them for free and it's such a whack a mole game. My favourite memory was the time I tried watching 24 hours Le Mans one year, they managed to kill all the free streams for the last 2 hours of the race.
